Below is the Core mounted in a homemade lathe ready for wire. Upon completion the core has 98,000 turns of # 28 Magnet wire wound upon it. There are 28 layers of windings. The core is composed of MetGlass laminated between iron flat stock. MetGlass also covers the top, bottom and sides of the core. The core has a total length of six feet. Each piece of MetGlass and iron flat stock was covered with packing tape before assembly to prevent any contact with another piece of MetGlass or iron flat stock.
